The exhibition Cum Laude by Rita GT, curated by Ana Cristina Cachola, opened on November 28 at Movart in Lisbon, continuing a solid artistic trajectory. It highlights how art serves as a tool for knowledge production and emphasizes its social, cultural, and political dimensions. While the exhibition itself is the focal point, it is deeply intertwined with Rita GT’s artistic practice, especially her collaborative efforts with curator Ana Cristina Cachola.
Rita GT holds a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, followed by advanced studies in visual arts at Maumaus in Lisbon and a master’s program in Fine Arts at Malmö Art Academy, Sweden. Her work critically addresses systemic issues, such as collective memory and identity, as they relate to colonial histories and fundamental human rights. As the founder of e-studio Luanda, Rita GT actively works between Portugal and Angola, creating projects rooted in collaboration, care, friendship, and collective action.
